A Presbyterian Church service will be held on Sunday at Bideford, at 2.30 p.m.

The annual meeting of the committee of the Wairarapa Boys' and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs is to be held in the Farmers' Rooms, Perry Street, to-day, at 2.30 p.m.

A fast and interesting exhibition of hockey should be witnessed at the Lansdowne grounds this afternoon at 3 o'clock, when Wairarapa will play Bush in the first round, of the Nordon Cup. His Grace, Archbishop O'Shea, is to deliver an address in Knox Hall tomorrow evening, under the auspices of the Masterton branch of the League of Nations Union. His subject will be “Some Aspects and Consequences of Another War."

The police believe that a number of recent burglaries committed in and around Christchurch are the work of one gang still at large who steal cars from private garages and then raid Suburban or country shops, afterwards abandoning the cars.—(P.A.) “Have any steps been taken regarding the motion passed at the last meeting declaring farm schemes black,” asked a member at last night's meeting of relief workers, “Yes," replied the chairman (Mr. K. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr. F. E. Wells), Mr. X R. McNaught presided over a fair attendance at a meeting of the Masterton Accountant Students ’ Society, held last evening. An interesting and instructive lecture on the “Law of Bankruptcy'’ was given by Mr. A. D. Low. He dealt with the salient features of the Act, referring to the “order and disposition clause," and the 11 principle of relation back,’' which was of particular interest to students. Mr. Low answered a number of questions at the conclusion of his address and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A children's plain apd fancy dress party, in aid of the Y.M.C.A. funds is to be given in the Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium on Friday evening, at 7 o'clock. Prizes are to be given. for the bestdressed boy and best-dres»ed girl and for the most original costume. The judges will be the Mayoress (Mrs. T. Jordan) and Mrs. H. M. Peacock. There will also be a programme of musical and elocutionary items and exhibition dances by the Misses Avis ■and Audrey Loft. The admission charges will be: children, 6d and mothers, 9d. Very complete arrangements for a happy and enjoyable evening have been made by the members of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. Messrs. C. Smith, Ltd., insert sale Specials in the wanted columns.

Messrs. J. Kerslake & Co. will sell at their Mart at 2 p.m. to-day, poultry, vegetables, furniture, etc. Read “The Farmers" special scatters on page .1 of this issue. Weekly old-time dance will be held in the Orange Hall to-morrow evening. Music will be supplied by Kirk’s Orchestra. Learners taken between 7 and 8 p.m.
