GIRL’S DEATH.

INVESTIGATIONS BY POLICE. WELLINGTON, July 14. With the discovery of the body of Phyllis Avis Symons, who had been missing for over a fortnight, the Police Department has completed the first stage of what appears to be one of the most sensational happenings in Wellington of recent years. A post mortem examination of the body was made yesterday by Dr. P. P. Lynch, pathologist at the Wellington Hospital, and Dr. C. M. Hector, but the result will not be made public until after the coronial inquiry. No date has yet been fixed for the holding of the inquiry. The Police Department is collecting evidence, but until every source of information that might help in solving the mystery of the girl’s death has been tapped, no definite move will be made.

The funeral will take place at the Karori Cemetery to-morrow at 2 p.m.— (P.A. )'
