Mr. D. Feast of the OartertM Branch of the Bank of New South Wales,i is at present on annual leave. Mr. T. George from the Wellington office is relieving.
The engagement is announced of Dora Bessie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs H. J. King, Gladstone, to Richard Neil (Dick), youngest son of Mr. and Mrs R. W. Nunn, Carterton.
The funeral of the late Mr. John George Hayes took place in Masterton yesterday. The Rev. E. O. Blamires conducted services at the residence an’d at the graveside. A number of beautiful wreaths were received from sympathising friends. The pallbearers were Messrs. B. Braggins, B. O’Neill, E. Solomon, T. Newland, T. Cruickshank and A. (Spratt.
A very large number of mourners, widely representative of the town and district, attended the funeral of the late Miss Margaret Mary Scott, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs K. Scott, “Rawhiti,” Te Parse, in Masterton yesterday. Beautiful wreaths sent by many friends in such numbers that they filled several cars bore witness to the affection and respect in which the 'deceased lady was held. The pallbearers were: Messrs. C. W. Rutherford, R. Shaw, L. Smith, H. A. Hareombe, J. McGillicuddy, and H. .< Renall. The Rev. John Davie conducted the funeral services at the residence in Tararua Street and at the graveside.
The many friends of Mrs J. Apperly, of 55 Church Street, Masterton, will regret to learn of her death, which occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Scarfe, Napier. The late Mrs Apperly was visiting her daughter when she suffered a. stroke, from which she did not recover. She was a well known and highly respected resident of Masterton for many years. She is survived by one daugh-
ter and two sons and a niece, Mrs James, who will have the sympathy of a wide circle of frien'ds in their sad bereavement. Her husband predeceased her two years ago. The funeral will leave the residence, 55 Chureh Street, Mastertoll, at 3.30 p.m. to-day , for St. Matthew’s Church, where a j service will be held and thence to thje Masterton Cemetery,
