GANGSTERS’ ARSENAL
DISCOVERY BY DETECTIVES IN NEW YORK. CRIMINAL’S WIFE TRAILED & DETAINED. FOUNTAIN PEN PISTOLS. NEW YORK, August 15. The biggest arsenal of gangsters’ weapons ever seen in New York was discovered when detectives trailed and detained a fashionable sedan driven by the wife of a certain notorious criminal. There were bombs enough to destroy half Broadway, and what looked like harmless fountain pens were actually pistols discharging .22 calibre bullets. There were hand grenades, steel vests, machine-guns, and other war material. Three men were arrested, but the car-owner himself sailed for Ireland recently ge had been arrested twenty-three times, five for murder, and his total prison time served was but one month.
