HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 9, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow. —Market quiet on account of holiday. Prices remain firm. Eggs.—Market quiet. Per long hundred (120 eggs), English, nominal mark, 11/6 to 19/6; English, ordinary pack ,14/6 to 17/6; Irish, 11/- to 18/-; Swedish, Danish, Belgian and Dutch, 12/3 to 14/9; French, 11/6 to 15/-; Polish, 6/6 to 8/9. Fruit.—English apples now in the market. Present quotations for New Zealand are: Stunners, 8/- to 10/-, old stock 4/- to 8/-; Statesman, 8/- to 11/-; Dougherty and Delicious, 9/- to 11/-. Hemp.—Manila market dull. "K” grade August-September shipment, sold £22, September-November shipment £22 5/-. Sisal: Market easier. First grade, .fair average quality afloat sold £23 5/-. September-November - shipment quoted £24; second grade, 15/- less. Good marks held for 10/- more. Mexican unchanged. New Zealand market very quiet. High-fair spot sold at second hand, £22 10/- to £23. No inquiry for forward shipments. No first hand sales reported. Wool.—Bradford market quiet, with fairly good tone. Quotations nominally unchanged.
