SALES TAX.
PASSED BY FEDERAL HOUSE. IN SPITE OF PROTESTS. (Received Wednesday, 11.10 p.m.) CANBERRA, August 6. The House of Representatives passed the second reading of the Sales Tax Bill by forty votes to twenty-five. There was a considerable protest by many members against the endless confusion this form of taxation would create among businessmen.
