SCOUTS AND CUBS.

THE WELLINGTON JAMBOREE. WAIRARAPA DOES WELL. The Jamboree celebration held in Wellington last Saturday to commemorate the Ooming of Age of the movement was a red-letter day in the annals of Wellington (Scouting, and everyone from the smallest Cub to the highest officer is to be congratulated on the splendid success of the function.

Now that the movement has reached its majority all are looking forward to a great impetus being given to Scouting throughout New Zealand, which offers more than any other country the opportunity of getting into the great out-doors, the natural place for every live-blooded boy of to-day. With the leadership that is behind the movement to-day, there is a great future in view.

On Saturday last at the Kilbirnie Stadium there were over 1760 Scouts and Cubs and over 500 Girl Guides on the ground. The party which went to this Jamboree from .the Wairarapa numbered 201 of all ranks of Scouts and Cubs. Though the journey proved a long all-day one, it was very interesting and never to be forgotten, and although everyone was very tired when reaching Masterton about 9.30 p.m., it was gratifying to know that the day passed off without accident. On arriving at Lambton Station, the Wairarapa Contingent was met by the District Commissioner (Mr. R. Nelson). The Trumpet and Bugle Band did a great deal to help in the marching through the town. The party were the guests of St. Peter’s Troop Committee for lunch and the Lyall Bay Troop for tea. During the afternono the Wairarapa Troops and Packs kept on the move working and playing, and showing the various sides to their training. (Continued on Page 2.)
