MT. HOLDSWORTH CLUB.
A PROPOSED ABT UNION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Mount Holdsworth Club was held last night, Mr. G. J. Goldsman presiding. An apology for absence was received from Mr. C. E. Daniell, who forwarded a donation of £1 for which he was gratefully thanked. The annual report and balance sheet, previously published in “The Age” were read and adopted. The balance sheet disclosed a credit of £l6 Is lOd. It was decided that Mr. Goldisman interview the Wairarapa (South County Council regarding the repairing and upkeep of the road to the reserve and report to the next meeting. Gratitude was expressed to the Wairarapa Automobile Association for supplying sign posts.
It was reported that the mountain hut was much in need of repair. In an effort to raise funds for this purpose an art union is to be promoted, provided the necessary permission can be obtained. The arrangements were left to Mrs Goldsman.
It was decided, to organise a working party on Labour Day to clear the track to the summit.
In view of it being reported that opossum trappers were using the mountain house, the club decided to ask the Forestry Department, which issues licenses, whether it could collect rent for the use of the hut and transmit the amount collected to the club. It was decided to ask also that trappers should be required to bury or burn opossum carcases, so that no nuisance would be created during the summer. The election of officers was postponed to a later meeting.
