JOHNSONVILLE SALE.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd. report on the Johnsonville sale held on Wednesday as follows:— “There was a large attendance of the public, to whom we submitted an average yarding of fat cattle and sheep. The bulk of the yarding comprised prime heavy quality bullocks, with a few pens of lighter weights. The sale opened with prices on a par with last week’s rates, but there was an easing tendency, and, taken all round, values showed a decline, par ticuJarly for heavy-weight bullocks The cows and heifers met with a fair sale and vealers were in keen demand. The wethers were mostly medium weight of average quality, prices being on a par with last week's rates. The ewes offered were of good quality, but a dull sale resulted, prices showing a decine of 1/6 to 2/ per head. A small number of lambs offered met with a keen sale. We quote: Heavy bullocks, £l7/10 to £l6; medium weight bullocks £l5/15 to £l4/17/6; light bullocks, £l4 to £l3/15; heifers, £lO/10; ex. heavy cows, £l2/10 to £ll/15; cows, £lO/5 to £B/5; vealers, £6 to £1; wethers, 37/ to 31/; ewes, 34/9 to 31/; lambs (heavy) 31/.”
