ADDINGTON SALE.

CHRISTCHURCH, July 3. r *nes n re nt Aldington to-day, and there was an improved sale for all the major sections of stock, ewes and ewe hoggets selling particularly well. Store Sheep.—There was a ismall entry <of store sheep of very fair quality. The sale was a keen one throughout, particularly for good ewes and wethers, and the price advanced all round by about 1/6 a head. Extra good three-quarterbred ewe hoggets to 31/, medium three-quarterbred ewe hoggets to 27/, Corriedale wether hoggets to 18/6, good 2,4, 6 and 8-tooth threequarterbred ewes to 35/, good soundmouthed halfbred ewes to 30/6, extra good 6 and 8-tooth haifbred wethers to ,62/, good 6 and 8-tooth half bred wethers to 30/, ordinary 6 and 8-tooth halfbred wetheirs to 25/. Fat Lambs.—About 800 fat lambs were penned. There was little outstanding in quality, but all sorts sold at full schedule rates.

Fat Cattle.—The cattle entry comprised 445 head, -slightly fewer than the previous week. The quality generally was the niost indifferent this season, there being a large proportion of aged and low-conditioned cows offered. A few pensi of Chatham Island cattle were penned. The market was irregular, but last week’s values showed no change. Best beef made up to 46/ per 1001 b., prime 41/ to 44/, heavy weight 38/ to 40/, good cow 35/ to 37/6, plain heavy cow 30/ to 33/, rough down to 27/. Extra heavy prime steers made to £23/12/6, prime heavy steers £lB to £2O/10, medium-weight prime 'steers £l3/15 to £l7/15, medium quality steers £l2/15 to £l5/10, light steers £lO to £l2/10; good prime heifers to £l6/12/6, prime heifers £ll/15 to £l4/10, medium heifers £9/15 to £ll/10, light heifers £7/10 to £9/10; extra prime cows to £lB/17/6, prime cows £ll/15 to £l4/10, medium cows £9/5 to £ll/5, light and aged cows £6 to £9.

Fat Sheep.—The entry of fat sheep was the smallest for some time. There were some good-sized lines of station wethers forward, and also a few lines from North Otago, South Canterbury, and Blenheim. The quality as a whole was not distinctive. All sorts met with a keen sale and prices advaijced by about 1/ a head. Extra prime wethers made to 44/7, prime wethers 34/ to 37/6, medium wethers 30/6 to 33/6, light wethers 27/6 to 30/; exfra prime ewe® to 37/4, prime ewes 29/ to 33/ medium ewes 24/ to 28/, U*ht ewes 20/6 to 23/6, aged ewes 18/ fo 20/. Vealers.—An average en|ry and a good sale for killable sorts. Best 12 to 18-months sorts made to £O/16. Dairy Cattle.—A good Mie. Best second and third calvers made to £l6, medium £ll to £l4/10, others £6 to £10; best heifers to £l6/10, medium £l2 to £l5, others £9/10 to £JI.

Store 'Cattle.—A good number of cows and heifers came forward, but few steers. A few of the lines were good colours and sold under brisk competition. Best cows made to £B/3/6, inedium £5/15 to £7/5; other, £4/10 to £5/10; heifers to £6/19; bull <9/13/6. Fat Pigs.—-A smaller entry with slightly better prices. Choppers made 30/ to £5/3, baooners £3/5 to £3/15, heavy baconors £4 to £4/10/8 (average price per lb. 6}d to 7d.), porkers 38/ to 47/6, heavy porkers 52/ to 58/6 (average price per lb. 7d. to Bd.) Store Pigs.—A small entry and a keen demand, owing no doubt to the improved market in the fats section. Large stores made 28/ to 31/, medium stores 25/ to 27/6, small stores 18/ to 23/, weaners 10/ to 16/.—(P-A.)
