A report that the big American meat operators, Swift and Co., had applied to the Government for a lacenae to buy meat in New Zealand for export was confirmed to-day by the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Minister of Agriculture. The application did not involve a license to kill meat in New Zealand explained the Minister, who added that the matter had not yet been considered by the Government.—(Our Parliamentary correspondent.)
