ALL BLACKS SHINE.

NEWCASTLE OUTCLASSED IN GOOD GAME. I FINE PACK WORK & BRILLIANT PASSING. GUNDY AND STRINGFELLOW PROMINENT. (Received Wednesday, 9.45 p.m.) NEWCASTLE, July 3. In the presence of four thousand people, a Newcastle team played the All Blacks on the Sports Ground, the game ending, New Zealand 35, Newcastle 3. The teams were as follow: All Blacks: Stringfellow, Waterman. Carleton, Geddes, Oliver, Cundy. Dailey (capt.), Hook, Snow, McWilliams, Mahoney, Steere, Reside, Palmer, Souter. Newcastle: Burke. Hammill, Doyle, Breen (capt.), Middleton, Neville. Rutherford, Howell, Ward, Pooley, Jones, Swan, McKenzie, Sanderson, Greaves. Nepia did not play, owing to an injury to his back. The All Blacks started off in a manner that suggested that they would prove to be superior in every department of the game. Fine pack work and brilliant passing, in which Geddes shone, were features of the various stages of the match. The New Zealanders were not long in scoring and established a nice lead before Newcastle, per medium of Hamill, scored a try which was converted. The All Blacks continued to show fine play. The forward line was exceptionally good. Newcastle scored a try again in the first half, which ended, New Zealand 11, Newcastle 8. After the interval the All Blacks carried the game before them, and with the exception of individual efforts by one or two men in the Newcastle side, the local team were ontclassed. Geddes, Waterman, Cundy, Oliver and Stringfellow were a tower of strength to the All Blacks’ side. In the second half the Newcastle team tired. Dailey, the New Zealand captain, went off the field early in the second half with an injured shoulder. The final score was: New Zealand, 35; Newcastle B.—(Australian Press Association.)
