VISIT BY FARMERS.

ENTERTAINMENT PROPOSALS. QUOTAS FOR OTHER TOWNS. Further consideration of the arrangements in connection with the visit of about three hundred Southland farmers to the Wairarapa on July 16 and 17 was given yesterday at a meeting of the finance, luncheon and ladies’ subcommittees of the Central Committee. It was reported that the Featherston and Martinborough Committee was prepared to take fifty to sixty of the visitors, Greytown 25, and Carterton 50, leaving a 'balance of 175 for Masterton. The Featherston and Martinborough Committee had practically agreed to provide full entertainment for its own party, which would not return to Masterton for the luncheon on Wednesday. It was decided to ask the Carterton, Greytown, Featherston and Martinborough committees to attend a meeting of the Central Committee at Grey.town on Tuesday next, July 9. The opinion was expressed that if each of the southern committees could undertake to provide full entertainment for their quotas, the difficulties of providing luncheon for the whole number at Masterton would bo overcome. All committees will meet again as soon as possible after the Greytown meeting. Mr. A. McNeil, Business Agent for the New Zealand Railways, will probably be present at Tuesday’s meeting at Greytown. It was decided to request all volunteers with cars or drivers to communicate with the secretary of the Farmers' Union, Mr. James Watson.
