OPAKI SCHOOL PICNIC.
YESTERDAY’S GATHERING ENJOYABLE OUTING The Opaki School held it a,naual pie- , nic yesterday on Mr T. Wyeth’s property. All who attended spent a most enjoyable day. In addition to races for !the children there were novelty events, one of which was the capturing of a pig, presented by Mr Keats. The chase caused considerable excitement and fun. After a strenuous race the pig Jwas captured by S. Gerrand, who thus 1 , became the owner. After the children 1 bad partaken of all the good thing's ' provided for them, they gave three cheers to those who had so generously 1 treated them so well and a similar com- . pliment was paid to Mr and Mrs Wy- > eth, for the use of their grounda .Thanks were also given to Mr V. Buick ■ for thf use of a lorry for the conveyance of the children. Tired but happy .the children dispersed for home in the evening, each one taking home a prise. 1 The adult events resulted as follow: , Young ladies' race: Mies U. Hollo, 1; > Miss L. Ousey, 2.
