MARRIED AT NOON

ROYAL HOUSES OF NORWAY AND SWEDEN UNITE. PRINCE OLAF AND PRINCESS MARTHA. CEREMONY AT OSLO. United Press Association. —By Electric. Telegraph—Copyright. OSLO, March 21. Prince Olaf, the Crown Prince of Norway, and Princess Martha, of Sweden, were married at noon. The altar was decked with white lilac and genista, but otherwise the church was not decorated, King Haakon saying: * * God’s House is not intended to be a hothouse. The church as the congregation sees it will do for Olaf’s wedding day.” The Bishop of Oslo celebrated the marriage in the Norwegian ritual, which is practically the same as the English. Prince Olaf and his best man, the Duke of York,/both in uniform, motored to the church a quarter of an ; hour before the ceremony, and awaited the Princess Martha in the chancel. The front of the church of Our Holy Saviour was packed, the guests, numbering fifteen hundred, having difficulty in reaching places inside. The bridal gown, kept strictly until the wedding morning, was of silver lame, trimmed with Brussels lace, and had a twelvefoot train of lame trimmed with roses, the dress showing the Princess Martha’s slim figure to perfection. There were eight -bridesmaids, four Norwegian and four Swedish. They wore light blue tulle dresses cut low at the back and adorned with many frills, worn over crepe-de-Chine underdresses. The couple are leaving in the evening unaccompanied on a motor tour through Europe.—(Australian Press Association.—United Service.)
