SCOUT NOTES.
FORMATION OF WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. TO-MORROW’S SPORTS i GATHERING. A meeting of Scoutmasters and Cubmasters working in the Wairarapa district was held in Masterton onJTuesday evening last, when it was unanimously decided to form a Wairarapa Sub-Dis- ! trict Committee. It is hoped that through this association further enthusiasm and interest in scouting and cubbing will be aroused in districts which Scout Troops and Cub Packs at present exist, and that it may also be the means of their being formed where they do not already exist. Arrangements are being made to hold a sports gathering to-morrow, when all Wairarapa Troops and Packs will take part. Scouts and Cubs from Featherston and Carterton will arrive during the morning and will be joined by the St. Matthew’s Scouts and Cubs, when they will proceed to the Masterton Park. The day will be spent in Scout work, swimming sports, running events and games. It is hoped that two trophies will be presented in the near future, one for the Scouts and one for the Cubs, the trophies to be competed ' for annually. The troop and pack gaining the highest aggregate points in swimming and sporting events to-mor-row being the winners, of course, for the coming twelve months. It will not be possible to present these trophies • immediately, as they have not yet been donated, but if anyone willing to help forward the work of the movement in this district by presenting a trophy, or a donation, will communicate with the Assistant-District Scoutmaster (the Rev. E. McLevie, ’phone 2029), and obtain further particulars it will be greatly appreciated. The St. Matthew’s Troop and Pack gave a good welcome to District Scoutmaster Bell (Wellington South) on his recent visit to Masterton. In a short speech, Mr. Bell thanked the boys for their hearty welcome, and gave them some words of encouragement and advice.
