The West Ham Borough Council lias decided to appoint a whole-time musical director. He will be responsible, for the Council's musical activities at a salary of £5OO a year, rising to £6OO. Moscow is making a bid for the foreign tourist trade, as tourists arriving in groups or “delegation.” are to be exempt from a variety of taxes to which the individual foreign traveller is subject. They will not have to pay any fee for registering their passports nor the graduated taxes on bill in- res* taurarts and hotels.
