COMING EXHIBITION.

CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY , APPOINTED j EMPIRE SHOPPING DISPLAY j At a meeting of the Wairarapa Industrial Exhibition Committee last night, Mr E. M. Hodder was . appointed chairman, in place of Mr , C. M. Bowden, who resigned on ac- ( count of ill-health, and Mr W. V. : Madden was appointed secretary. , It was decided to arrange for an. pmpirc shopping display, on. a competi-: tire basis, during the vApck in which , the Industrial Exhibition is to be held,, from May 27 to June 1. The Art Ex-, hibition will extend over two weeks, ■ from May 20 to June 1. The Govern-, ment Publicity Department is to be approached with a view to its making, an exhibit. , The matter of side-shows was dis- ■ cussed and- it was decided to eommuni- j cate with suitable firms with a view tOj catering for the public’s wants in that) direction. Lighting arrangements for the town and the Exhibition were dis-L cussed with the 'Secretary-Manager -of i the Wairarapa Power Board, MrS George Brown, and the Engineer, Mr . H. B. Keenan. efforts are be-1 irg made to arrange attractive lighting. Mr L. Hooker, organiser of the South Taranaki Winter Show was present; at the meeting and offered advice to tjre committee on show matters. He stated that he would be pleased to give assistance freely at any time and without expense. Various ’ub-committees will report at the next meeting of the committee to be held next Monday.
