P. AND A. AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF THE WAIRARAPA SOCIETY. (“The Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held on Saturday, at Carterton, there being present: Messrs. J. G. Oates (presiding), J. Hodder, W. A. Saywell, C. Reid, T. Moorcock, A. Johnson, W. A. Pyke, J. G. McDonald and T. Reid. The treasurer reported: Bank overdraft, £1290 3s lid. Receipts since last meeting, £157 6s 2d; accounts paid since last meeting, £B5 17s. 4d.; and accounts passed for payment, £lO7 11s. 3d.
Messrs. A. Clark and J. Stringfellow were appointed delegates to a conference of A. and P. association delegates at Palmerston North, on April 17, for the purpose of recommending persons for appointment to the Board of Agri-' , culture. Mr. A. Clark was also nominated for a seat upon the board.
The New Zealand Kennel Club advised that the following challenges for both sexes for competition at the next show had been allotted: —Greyhounds, Bull Terriers, Cairn Terriers and Deerhounds.
The Martinborough Rest Room Committee wrote thanking the society for the use of hurdles for their recent gala day. Mr. C. Reid introduced the subject of including a -class in the cheese section for cheese to be judged at the Show, and then forwarded to the London market to be judged there, on similar lines to the lamb classes. Mr. Reid undertook to get further information on the subject, and to bring it up at the next meeting. Mr. J. G. McDonald was accorded a vote of thanks for assistance in preparing the green feed paddock, and also to Mr. W. Howard Booth for his donation of two strainer posts. It was decided that as many members as possible meet at the Kent Street paddock on Monday to assist in erecting a fence.
