HARBOUR CROSSED
C. E. CLARIDGE SUCCEEDS. GOOD CONDITIONS. SPLENDID TIME FOR 880 YARDS CHAMPIONSHIP. , WELLINGTON, March 17. C. E. Clarliige, on Saturday afternoon, won the 880 yards Wellington centre championship in 12min 4 3-ssec., which is better than the previous centre record of 12min 28sec. by 13 2-ssec. Claridge swam from the Wellington Ferry Wharf to Bona Bay to-day in fairly good conditions. This was the swim in which Webster failed.— (PA.) (Claridge’s time was Shours 27 mins. After a hot bath he felt no ill-effeets, except that his eyes were sore with the salt water.)
