The friends of Mr\C. O. Hodgins wiflil 5 regret to learn that he is confined to , to his home, suffering from an attack - of influenza. Mr R. J. Hughes, son of Mr J. L. • Hughes, of Master ton, who has been ron the local staff of the National Bank of New Zealand Ltd. for the past five years, leaves to-day or.- transfer to . the Wellington branch. He is being i replaced by Mr Gilbert Wilson., from the Bank's Auckland office. Air H. S. McLaren, of Masterton, will leave shortly to take up his residence in Auckland. During his residence in Masterton Mr McLaren has been connected with various local institutions and has rendered valuable service. His keenness and ability will be much mlissed by those bodies which he has done so much to assist filing the road of progress. Prior to the commencement of businless at the Magistrate’s 'Court yesterday, Mr D. K. Logan, on behalf of the > (local Bar, extended a welcome to the ,’newly-appointed Clerk of the Court, Mr ijH. B. Reid, and said he had no doubt i their relations with Mr Reid would bo as pleasant as they had been with his predecessor. The Magistrate (Mr. J. Miller) said he wished to endorse Mr. Logan’s remarks. He had known Mr. Reid for a number of yeans and had been association with h?m in the Dun edin office before coming up here. Knowing Mr Reid and his qualifications, he was satiisfied they would find fiim the right officer in the right place. Tn a brief expression of thanks, Mr Reid observed that what had been said was in keeping with the hospitality that had been accorded to him since he came to Masterton.
