■GOLDEN TERRACE EXTENDED REPORT Followin'g is an extract from a letter from Mr G. Pettigrew to Mr J. Hessey dated March 8: <4 As you know, the poiQtoons are on the claim and. are being put together. A gang is going up on Monday to rivet pontoons. Main framing: All the framing above the deck for carrying top tumbler and first and second motion' shafting and gearing, also screen and elevator is just about completed and ready to go forward to the claim. Ladder: This has been finished for some time. Elevator: The rubber belt elevator is finished and ready to go forward. Screen: This is 'finished, but the lower roller path, which is being cast, has to be machined and rd.vetted on discharge end of screen. Lining: The lining of the main 1 frames and along the well way above deck is now being fitted in place. Lad- ’ der rollers: These are all finished. Lifting gear: The four huge sheave sets for ‘lifting the ladder are completed. These • conisdst of 4 sets, five sheaves being in each set. Hangers: The ladder hangers and guide rollers and thrust rol--1 lens for the screen are finished, and a lot of small parts, too numerous to mention, are ready. Imported nuater--1 ial: All the wire ropes for working the dredge are to hand, also the corrugated roofing iron for the housing has 'gone forward to the claim. All seven L motors and four centrifugal pumps are to hand, the 3-foot rubber belt for the .elevator has arrived. Buckets, tumblers and steel gearing are expected to .arrive any day. You can have no idea of the huge, massive affair this dredge , is. The biggest dredge you built is a toy in comparison to what the Golden . Terrace will be. We can expect great things for this dredge. ’ ’
