BURGLARIES ADMITTED.
SEVERAL MAORIS CHARGED AT PORT AWANUI ALL COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE GISBORNE, August 13. A series of burglaries up the East Coast had a sequel at the Port A.vanui Police Court, where several Maoris appeared before Justices and admitted the offences. Geo.rge Taiapu pleaded: g'l.'Hy to "breaking, entering and theft of saddles from a_ -saddler’s shop at Tikitiki on July 30. George Taiapa Hcmaro Te Maro and Charlie Ward were charged with breaking, entering and theft from Waiomatim store on July 22, the goods being valued at £2l. George Taiapu was also charge! with entering Tikitiki store on July 13 and stealing goods to the value, of £22 and with entering a store at Waicmatmi and stealing goods to. the value of £2. Ail the accused pleaded, guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.—(P.A.)
