The “Daily Chronicle’s” Paris correspondent states that France is faced with a serious situatkn in Syria, where events forced M. Ponsot, High Commissioner, to tispend a debate by the ncwly-elocted Parliament upon the proposed constitution. The general election ter turned a Nationalist anti-French Assembly, which claims the solo right of proclanning martial law and conducting foreign relations. The Assembly refused M. Ponsot’s request to drop clauses and a dissolution is expected.— (Australian Press Association.)
