MR. AND MRS. McCLURE.
FAREWELLED AT HIGH SCHOOL Mr. and Mrs. C. B. McClure ware entertained at morning tea by the staff tof the Wairarapa High School on Friday prior to their departure for Feilding. Dr. G. H. Uttley, in making a presentation of a handsome brass jardiniere and antique ash tray, engraved with the School coat of arms, referred to Mr. McClure's qualities as a teacher and his ability as an organiser of the outside activities of the School. He also expressed his appreciation uf the help given by Mrs. McClure, especially in connection with the dressing and staging of the School plays. He expressed great regret at Mr. McClure’s departure, but recognised that his talents warranted his promotion to a higher position.
Mr G. W. Morice endorsed Dr Uttley’s remarks, and referred to the cordial and happy relations existing at all times among the staff, and wished Mr and Mrs. McClure many happy days in their new sphere. In the afternoon, before the assembled school, Marjorie Haise thanked Mr. McClure for his efforts om behalf of the pupils, both in and out of school, and expressed their appreciation of his unselfishness. She then handed Mr. McClure a handsome leather suitcase and box of cigarettes.
Ken Clarke also thanked Mr Me Clure for his willingness to undertake any extra duties at the wish of the boys, and said they were more than grateful for his servic‘d and help at all times. He felt certain that their various activities could not have been so successful but for Mr. McClure’s* organising powers. His call for cheers for Mr McClure was most heartily responded to. Later Roy Shaw, on behalf of his football team, asked Mr. McClure’s acceptance of a Sheaffer’s pencil, thanking him for the time and encouragement he had: given them.
