N.Z. TREES.

SUITABLE FOR PLANTING IN MASTEBTON. In almost every district in New Zealand our Native flora varies, and the Wairarapa is no exception, but by testing out the varieties not common to this district a very comprehensive collection representative of the whole of New Zealand is now obtained locally. For shelter as well as beauty one cannot do better than plant the following: All the varieties of I’ittosporum (Matapo, Tarata, Etc.), Hoheria (Lacebark), Panax Aboreum (Five Finger), Griselinia (Broad Leaf), Dodonea Viscosa (True Ake Ake), Myoporum Laetum (Ngaio), Olearia Fosterii (Ako Ake), Fagus (Beeches, 3 varieties), Ccprosma, etc., etc. For planting inside the above the following are suitable; some require the shelter of the foregoing:—Tetrap tera (Kowhai), Leptospermum Nicholsii (Crimson Manuka), Myrtus Bulata and B. Abcordata (Rama Rama), Veronicas (59 varieties), Pomaderris (Tainui), Carmichaelmia (N.Z. Pink Broom), Clianthus (Kau Kau Beak), Liboeedrus (N.Z. Cypress), Dacrydium (Rimu). Cordyline (Cabbage Trees), Phormium (Flax), Etc. There arc quite a number of native forest trees that are of slow growth which are best grouped together such as the Maire, Matai, Miro, Rimu, Totara, Beech, White Pine, etc. The. above are obtainable from A. Robinson & Sons.*
