The New York Timos correspondent at Kansas City says the principal player in the Chinese Davis Cup team is Lum, who spent nearly all his life in Australia and had an opportunity to develop his game against some of the best players in Commonwealth tennis No one is more responsible for the high standard that Lum has attained than Patterson. Lum has Patterson’s form and manner of stroke production He delivers his service with the same body motion, and his forehand and backhand are like Patterson’s, although Lum has better control over the latter shot, including a backhand slice. The conviction is that he is going to make it interesting for his opponents here, who are likely to he Tilden and Hennessy.—(Australian Press Association).
