BRITAIN’S STAND
REPLY TO THE EGYPTIAN NOTE. AN EMPHATIC STATEMENT EXPECTED NAIIAS PASHA’S BLUNDER (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, April 3. Another special meeting of Cabinet to-day dealt with the Egyp- > tian situation. It is understood tnat the Government has decided to reply to Egypt’s statement in a memoranda which will probably be dispatched, this week. It wnl be most strongly worded, pointing out in emphatic terms that the position now existing as the result of the collapse of the Sarwat-Chamberlain negotiations is exactly according to the 1922 declaration, and Egypt must realise this. Undoubtedly the Government- feels that it has unanimous support fv such an attitude, because public opinion and tho entire British Press condemns Nahas Pasha’s blunder. It may be said that the feeling in Government circles is that Nahas has ynly served to strengthen Britain’s hands. —(Australian Press Association —United Service.).
