FIRE BRIGADES.

BASTER DEMONSTRATION ARRANGEMENTS AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. All arrangements are complete for the fire brigades demonstration to be held in Masterton on Easter Saturday and Monday, at the Park Oval. The gathering will commence each day at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Altogether there are some 150 runs in all events and tho public will be given a very fine exhibition of practical fire fighting methods, including hose, standpipe, and reel and ladder events, and a one-man ladder race. A very fine collection of shields and cups will be competed for. The trophies are on view in Messrs. Barr & Harman’s window, Queen Street. A pass will be given to persons who attend the demonstrations in the morning for admission in the afternoon.

Attention is drawn to the fireworks display on Saturday night, by the Wainoni Fireworks Co., of Christchurch. It is expected to be one of the best displays of its kind seen in Masterton. Patrons attending are reminded that the entrance to the park will be by the main gates. Previous to the display a programme of poi dances, quartettes and a chorus will be given from a platform in front of the grandstand. The public are invited to the reception to be held at the Fire Station on Friday evening at 7.15. The speakers are the Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan), Mr. W. Candy (chairman of the Fire Board), Mr. G. R. Sykes, M.P., and Mr. W. H. Jackson.
