Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cunningham of Dunedin are on a .visit to relations in Masterton. Mr. Cunningham was form* erly in the lighthouse service. Mr. T. H. Horton, holder of the Dominion amateur golf championship, left yesterday for Miramar to dqfend his title. He was accompanied by Mr. J. Mclntosh, the Masterton Golf Club’s professional, who will compete in the open championship.

Changes in the Magistracy were announced by the Minister of Justice (the Hon. F. J. Rolleston) yesterday, as follows: Mr. H. Y. Widdowson, Senior Magistrate at Christchurch, retires at the end of October, and will be suceeded by Mr. H. A. Young/second Magistrate at Christchurch. Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M. at Timaru, transfers to Christchurch, and Mr. C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., will replace Mr. Mosley at Timaru. The changes are to take effect aa soon as possible after November 1.

The marriage took place at St. Joseph’s Church, Wellington, on September 28, of Phyllis Margaret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Nash, of Wellington, and John Alfred, only son of Mr. J. W. Card, Mayor of Featherston. The Rev. Father Cullen officiated and celebrated the Nuptial Mass. Tho bride looked charming in a handsome wedding dress of white georgette and silver lace, with the usual veil and orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet. Miss Nellie Davis and Miss Rita Card (sister of the bridegroom) were bridesmaids, and Mr. Edgar Card, best man, and Mr. Cecil Nash (brother of the bride) groomsman. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Card will be at Flatspur, Masterton.
