EMPIRE LOAN PROPOSED. BY ARCHIBALD HURD. COMPARATIVELY SMALL ANNUAL BURDEN. (Received Wednesday, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, October 6. Archibald Hurd, in the “Daily Telegraph” says: “It would be an exaggeration to state that Singapore is in tffia melting-pot, but the progress made la inconsiderable.” He suggests that a loan guaranteed by the whole Empire would enable the work to be accelerated and impose a eomparatively small annual burden. —(A. and N.Z.)
