SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS.

(“The Age” Special). The Carterton Gymnasium and Boxing Club notify that the gymnasium will in future be open on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7.30 o’clock. If the membership warrants it, the services of a professional instructor will be engaged. Boyal Show Dates.

The Wairarapa P. and A. Society has under consideration the matter of increasing its prize money for next year’f jubilee show, by £5OO. The idea is to give substantial prizes in several of the most important classes to encourage entries from all the principal herds of the Dominion.

Horticultural Society. The balance-sheet of the Carterton Horticultural Society shows a balance of assets over liabilities of £219 5/2, of which £l6O 17/2 is a credit balance. The trophy account is in credit £4 8/2 after an expenditure of £4l 10/8. Croquet Club.

At the annual meeting of the Carterton Croquet Club the following officers were elected: President, Mrs C. Goodin; ■vfce-president, Mrs. H. Knutson; hon. secretary, Mrs. A. F. Pink; match committee, Mesdames B. J. Gayfer and A. ■C. Feast; green committee, Mesdames Geyfer and T. J. Bathbone; general committee, members of the Club. The meeting expressed its appreciation of the services rendered during the season by Mesdames Pink (secretary) and A. J. Parton (retiring president). Boxing.

At this week’s meeting of the Carterton Gymnasium and Boxing Club, members of the Parkvale Gymnasium ■Club were present by invitation, and gave an interesting exhibition. Jack Crowley, ex-Wellington Centre amateur bantam-weight champion, was present and assisted in instructing. Intending pupils are requested to assemble at the Gymnasium -at 7.30 this evening. The annual championship meeting of the Wairarapa Miniature Rifle Association takes place at Carterton on Saturday. There are 55 entries, including teams from the Wellington and Suburbs Club.
