OUR BACHELOR PRINCE.

RUMOURS OF LIKELY MATCH. WITH SWEDISH PRINCESS. LONDON, Jan. s.—The highest social and. diplomatic circles are seriously discussing the forthcoming visit of Princess Astrid, of Sweden, whose name is being increasingly connected with the Prince' of Wales.

It is believed that Queen Mary, the Government and the Foreign Office, have been engaged in a discussion on the suitability of the marriage. The Prince of Wales, at a previous meeting, wtys much attracted by Princess Astrid, whose stately dignity resembles Queen Mary's.

Official circles would welcome the match, as cementing Anglo-Swedish friendship, but nothing has yet been definitely arranged. Other high quarters, closely connected. with Royalty, are of opinion that Princess Astrid possibly will marry Prince Henry, which, from the viewpoint of the Foreign QfficO, would be equally satisfactory.

Meanwhile official circles, maintain the utmost secrecy.

His Government would be the last to suggest that the head should rule the heart in the matter of such Imperial importance, but it is known that Their Majesties are anxious that the Prince of Wales' marriage should not be unduly postponed, as the King’s health, despite his apparent complete recovery, is still eausing some anxiety, one lung remaining stubbornly weak.

The sudden silence of the London newspapers, after the first scnsatonal rumours, is highly significant when compared with the feverish eagerness of American correspondents to find out the true facts. —(“Sun.”)
