NEWS CRIBBERS
FOILED BY BOGUS STORY. NOVEL USE FOR WIRELESS. LONDON, Jan. 3.—A Prague correspondent relates an extraordinary explanation regarding the news, broadcasted from Prague on December 30, that the ex-Shah of Persia had committed suicide. It appears the Radio Central News Agency, supplying wireless messages to Czecho-Slovak and other European newspapers, had for some time suspected certain newspapers of cribbing news, and, in order to discover the culprits, the Agency, after warning regular subscribers, concocted the Shah story, which was broadcasted, with the desired results.
A ‘number of news agencies and newspapers in Germany and elsewhere, not subscribing to Radio’s service, received, distributed and published the fake message.. It is possible that the Rhnb may take action.—(“Times.’’)
