Lord Curzon is dead. Mr W. A. Hutton, Mayor of Greytqwn, has announced his intention off, again standing for the office. At a meeting of the Mauriceville Football Club on Thursday night M» R. A. Cameron (Dreyer’s Rock) was elected patron. Mr D. 0. Williams, M.A. F.R.E.& (Masterton), has been appointed director of Banks Commercial College and Wellesley Boys’ College Miss Jellicoe, who is at Algeciras (Spain) with the late Governor-Gen-eral of New Zealand, has been take* to hospital at Gibraltar for diagnosis.
Mr E. K. Eatswood, the well know* Masterton athlete, will leave for Wellington next week to take up a position in the Advances to Settlers Office. Mr M. Eton, of Morison’s Bush, has gone to Hamilton, where he will represent the Wairarapa branch at the Dominion Conference of the Dairy Farmers’ Union.
Mr P. G. McMurray, at one time in charge of the Greytown-Morison's Bush Presbyterian Church, but lately a resident at Frasertown (Wairoa), is on a visit to Greytown. He has bee* transferred to Apiti.
Mr George D. Portus, who has directed the world’s tour of the Newcastle Steel Works Band, reached Masterton yesterday in connection with this famous band’s visit here next Friday. It will be remembered that this notable organisation achieved great fame in England last .year, at Wembley and in the field of contest.
The late Mrs Donald Sutherland, whose burial took place at Pahiatua on Wednesday, was a native of Skye, Scotland, and was 62 years of age. After coming to New Zealand 12 years ago Mrs Sutherland, whose husband predeceased her by many years, practised her profession of nursing for over 22 years. She carried on maternity nursing in Dannevirke for 12 years, and by her patients she was beloved and esteemed. The large attendance at the funeral, evidenced the esteem and affection she had inspired. She leaves two brothers, Messrs W. S. Harvey (Weber), and J. MeL. Harvey (Waitahora), one sister, Mrs Fox (Napier),, besides one so* Mr G. Sutherland (Dannevirke), and two daughters, Mrs J. H. Richards (Dannevirke) and W. DrinkaU (Whakatane). (
