Harvest Festival. The harvest festival services in connection with St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, will be held to-morrow. The gifts of produce will be forwarded to the various Anglican Homes in Wellington. Racing Club.

At a meeting of stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club the following tenders were accepted for the Easter meeting:—Publican’s booth, T. J. Collerton (Carterton), £77; soft drinks, etc., C. G. Bouzaid (Greytown), £26 10s. W. Galbraith (Featherston) was recommended for a trainer’s license. It was decided that the P. and T. Department take over the club’s private line to the racecourse. Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs W. E. Bidwill (for donation of two stud rams), and J. G. Donald for looking after the club’s sheep at the racecourse. Borough Council.

At a meeting of the Featherston Boro . Ji Council on Thursday evening the following tenders were accepted for leases of reserves:—Recreation reserve, Mrs M. Cundy, £9 10s per annum: cemetery reserve, F. A. Austin, £ll per annum; Domain reserve, T. Tidswell, £2O per annum. Mr Geo. Julian was appointed motor inspector for the borough under the Motor Vehicles Act. It was decided that a street lamp be eereted at the foot of the Bimutaka Hill road. A petition was received for a poll on the half-holiday question. The ranger reported having dealt with 19 head of stock. A refund for repairs to Cox’s bridge through a Masterton motor lorry driver taking an excessive load over same is to be claimed.

Funeral Notice. The members of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., Carterton, are requested to assemble at the Lodge room, Belvedere street, at 1 p.m. to-day to attend the funeral of the late Bro. D. J. Brown, of Ahiaruhe. The Lodge will join the funeral cortege at the Bank of New South Wales corner, Carterton.
