THE COLONIAL SECRETARY.
TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND. TOWARDS END OF YEAR. (Received 7.15 p.m.) LONDON, March 19.—Mr Amery, who, with Sir Samuel Hoare, left fdr Irak to-day, has definitely decided to visit Australia and New Zealand during the autumn recess, states the “Daily Telegraph.” This will be the first occasion on which the head of the Colonial Office has gone on such a distant mission, but Mr Amery believes personal discussion with the Governments of the Dominions will be profitable and avert protracted cable conversations.
Mr Amery has always been interested in overseas settlement’ and anticipates the opportuniajw»ef arranging an increased flow of migrants.
The Colonial Office takes the view that the visit will be most useful, especially as there will be no Imperial Conference this year.
Mr Baldwin is most anxious to visit Canada, but It is feared he will be unable at present.—(A. and N.Z.)
