MEETING OF CHAMPIONS.

It is many a day since such a host ef ehampions, as will gather at the Oval 'on Saturday, have been see« competing in thrilling events in Masterton, and the public are indeed fortunate that a return visit of the Australian athletes has made this meeting possible.

The first event will commence promptly at 2 o’clock, and a programme of interesting events will be completed in time to enable patrons from both north and south to return to their homes by train that evening. Among the principal clashes will bo the following: 100 yards, Parker (Aust.), Leadbetter (Wn.) and local champions; 220 yards, Grehan (Aust, record holder), Leadbetter, Eastwood; 440 yards, Kyle (N.Z. Champion) will meet a strong field; 880 yards, Whyte (Aust.) and Campbell (N.Z. Champion); mile and three miles, R. A. Rose and G. D. Hyde (Aust.); cycle races, Burness (Aust.), Flett (Wn) and the Oakleys.

Those performers mentioned above accounted between them for six New Zealand titles recently at Wanganui, in addition to filling more than a dozen minor places.

All visitors will be entertained at a dance in the Social Hall in the evening.

The Australians, who competed at Linton yesterday, arrive in Masterton this afternoon.
