ALFREDTON CATTLE FAIR. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their autumn cattle fair held at Alfredton on Monday as follows.-—A good yarding of cattle came forward, quite up to advertised numbers. There was keen demand for fat cows and young steers. Heifers were dull of sale. We also disposed of Mr S. Freer’s herd of cows at full market rates. We quote:—-Yearling 'heifers £2 5/; empty heifers £2 5/, £3 15/, and £4; 18 months steers £5 to £6 2/6; 24 year steers £6 10/, 3 year steers £7 18/6, cows and calves £3 17/6, £4 to £4 7/6, fa't cows £6 5/ to £6 .17/6. Dairy cows (October calvers) £6 10/, £6 17/, and £7, cows in milk £4, £4 10/ to £5 10/, dairy heifers £4 10/ to £5 5/, wean er heifers £2.
