AN APPRECIATION.

Appreciative-reference to the efforts of the late Sir Walter Buchanan in the interest of agricultural education were made by Sir James Wilson at tho Taratahi Training Farm on Saturday when the Agricultural Commission was hearing evidence from Wairarapa representatives. “It is strange to come to the Wairarapa without meeting our old friend, Sir Walter Buchanan,” said Sir James. “In any matter of public interest he was always at the head, and he gave the impetus to agricultural education by his generous gift Which is tho primary reason of our presence here to-day. Though we frequently differed in our opinions, I bad a -great admiration for him, aad it was. a great shock to me when I learned of his sud den demise. However, his good work is. coming after him, and it is our duty to carry into effect the good endeavours which prompted the bequest.”
