PERSONAL.

Mr J. C. Ewington returned • from Auckland on Saturday. Tho Rev. and Mrs E. Drake, who have been visiting the Rev. and Mrs j. Cocker, return to Auckland to-day. Mr A. Keith has been appointed secretary to the Solway College Board of Governors in succession to Mr W. J. Tennent.

Miss M. Cavanagh of Masterton, leaves this morning for Wellington en route to Sydney where she will join the New Zealand pilgrimage to Rome. Rev. J. E. Parsons (Auckland) has been tho guest of Mrs P. Gordon (South road). Ho was minister at ths Kuripuni Methodist flhureh 14 years ago.

Mr T. E. Kerins, of the Masterton Railway Department, is an inmate of tho Masterton Hospital having contracted acute pneumonia. He is making satisfactory recovery. On the eve of his departure from Masterton, the ladies of the Women’s Hostel management committee presented to Mr W. J. Tennent, who has been secretary to the Hostel for some years, a handsome umbrella suitably inscribed.

On Saturday afternoon the president (Mrs H. H. Beetham) and committee of the Masterton Ranfuriy Club gave an “At Home,” at the Club to Mrs W. Wardell and Miss Mary Wardell, who leave for England this week.

The Rev. Father Moran, who has beeing acting Curate at St. Patrick’s parish for a short period, has been transferred to New Plymouth. Prier to his departure he was presented by the parishoners with a handsome travelling rug. Dr. and Mrs A. Hosking returned to Masterton on Saturday night from ft visit to Mt. Cook. Dr. W. H. Bull, who has been locum tenens for Dr. Hosking, leaves on Wednesday for Napier and Taupo. He will shortly be leaving for England. The. Rev. R. Grice, Nelson, who will succeed the Rev. F. J. Handy at the Kuripuni Methodist Church, will commence duty on the first Sunday in April. The Rev. J. Beeson (Mayfield, near Ashburton) will take the Featherston charge on the third Sunday in April. Mr Handy enters the Auckland College to-day.
