COUNUCIL MEETING.

(“The Age” Special.) 'file monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held on Saturday, there being present Crs. R. Judd (chairman), C. J. Seymour, D. Bennett, W. A. Miller, V. K- Lemberg and J. H. Macdonald.

The treasurer reported receipts £737 18/11, payments £789 16/5, cr. balance £424 5/. Accounts totalling £498 11/4 ware passed. The Highways Board sent a circular stating that, although the Board had made £175,000 available for road mintenance, a number of local bodies had not even applied for payment. It was hoped that local bodies would put in claims before the end of the finan cial year; otherwise, it would appear that the amount set aside was too great.—Eeceived.

The returning offi; er (Mr R. Brown) > advised that the Wellington Harbour Board election would be held on April 29 and asking fur particulars of polling booths.—lnformation supplied. The Waipawa County Council asked for support in endeavouring to dissuade ratepayers from forwarding goods by roads parallel to the railways.—Unanimously supported. 'Pihe clerk reported that the special roll for the Dagg’s road loan would be settled by Mr Hewitt B.M. on April 3. H. Myers wrote asking that eith'CT Mrs Dorset be compelled to clear weeds from a creek on her property adjoining his or that he be given permission to do so. —Decided that the Council had no power to interfere.
