Joseph Herman Hine, married, aged 33, was killed through contact with a high voltage main transmission line at Palmerston North on Saturday.

Harvest thanksgiving services were held, at Knox Church yesterday, the church being beautifully deeorated with flowers, berries and produce which will be given to the Wellington Presbyterian Orphanage. The services were very well-attended. About 100 members attended the opening of the new quarters of the Ranfurly Club in the Central Arcade on Saturday. The rooms had been beautifully decorated by Mesdames <?. C. Williams and J. V. Gordon with delphiniums, birch and hydrangeas. Afternoon tea was taken at the C.A. tearooms, which also were artistically decorated. A special train arriving here before noon to-day will convey about 300 officers of the Salvation Army who are attending the congress in Wellington. The train will stop at the Renal! street crossing, the visitors will inspect the new orphanage, and after lunch join the train again at Benall street, returning to Wellington in the afternoon.
