CAPTAIN ARTHUR’S £40,000. HAD TO RETURN IT. / (Reed. Tuesday, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 22.—Captain Arthur, quqestioned with reference to his share in Sir . Hari Singh’s £150,004, gave evidence that he was absolutely forced to receive £40,000, but had to return it to Hobbs and Newton almost immediately.—(A. and N.Z.) Coercion Alleged. (Reed. Tuesday, 8.40 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 2’.—Captain Arthur alleges that he was forced into the plot by threats to expose his relations with a titled Englishwoman. He was forced to sign a receipt for £40,000, and return the money.—(A. 1 and N.Z.)
