UNCONFIRMED REPORT. MINISTER’S STATEMENT. NEW PLYMOUTH, Dee. 23.—“1 cannot confirm it,” said the Hoh. J. G. Coates, Minister of Raiways, when his attention was drawn to the report that Mr E. Fay, son of Sir Sam Fay, the railway commissioner, is to take control of the operations branch of the railways. Mr Coates hinted at the possibility of one f the visiting railwaymen comng to stay in the Dominion for about three months and another one for a longer period, but he could not say anything definite. lie will issue a statement on railway matters in a few days.—(P.A.)
