MASTERTON FIRE BOARD.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Masterton Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Secretary’s Qffice, Church street. Present Mr W. Candy, (chairman), Messrs W. A. Parton, J. Wesney, and T. Jordan. Superintend dent Freeman was in attendance. The Executive Committee’s reports were adopted and payments confirmed. It was decided to accept a transfer of the insurance policy on the new Dennis engine as soon as delivery is taken sfter completion. The Superintendent’s report was read and received. The work of fixing up a battery; room under the stairs was authorised. The action of the Executive Committee in selling the Wolcsley lighting plant for £B5 cash was approved. The secretary was directed to convey the thanks of the Board to Mr Ratcliff for the loan of batteries, and the Midland Electric Coy. for the loan of a rectifier. The Board approved of the Superintendent having his holiday in the lat* ter part of January, and leave to attend the annual Fire Brigade Conference in Christchurch in the first week of March was granted. Engineer Clark’s application for holidays as from Boxing Day was agreed to. It was agreed that in the event of any fire occuring where there is any suggestion of faults in electrical appliances, application should be made to Mr W. A. Parton to have an inspector sent up to report, application to be made by telephone. Tho Board reciprocated the season’s greetings of the Brigade. Accounts amounting to £77 Ils jlld were passed.
