NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT.
Entries are coming in for the above tourney, including Ramsay (Hataitai), last year’s winner, whose club will be well represented; three rinks are certain, and probably there will be four. Franks, an. old favourite of Masterton, will also skip a team. Rinks are also promised from Otaki. Bowlers would be well advised to send in their entries as soon as possible to the tournament secretary. A Triumph for Youth. Following is an extract from a Sydney paper:—Some veteran New South Wales bowlers met in the City (Sydney) green last week. They were 42, and their ages aggregated 3300 years. Seventeen were four score or over. The struggle for the rink medals was strenuous, and ended in a dead heat between J. Will’ams and J. Caddy. In the two extra ends Williams’s four won. It was a case of youth being served. This rink totalled but 310 years, being easily the most juvenile of the ten competing.
