MASTERTON BOROUGH.

WORK FOR THE MONTH. — I The Acting Engineer (Mr C. R. Mabson) reported to the Borough Council on Tuesday evening as follows:— Waterworks and Drainage.—Three new services and three renewals were put in and also six chaine of 2-inch main laid in Ngaumutawa road to Mr Whatman's property. The repairs to groyne and alterations to manhole and j control at Waiugawa headworks are I under Way. North Ward Water.—Two rams have been kept in operation continui ally during the dry spell. As the hosing of gardens was taxing the supply pumped to the reservoir it was found necessary to re-impose restrictions.

Streets.—Approximately 500 cubic i yards of metal have been crushed for i Rcnall street. Kcrbing in Worksop ; road' is proceeding, over 6J chains having been completed. Preliminary ; work in connection with the comple- : tion of the Dixon street culvert is ; being proceeded with. Contracts have I been let to J. Cummins for the supply < and delivery of 1200 cubic yards of boulders, and to Burling, Blinkhorne ’ and Andrews for 600 cubic yards of ; sand. Tarring of paths has been car- ; ried out in Cole, Pownall, Villa, Bent- ; ley, George, Grey, Olive, Hessey and ' Keaton streets, and Columba road, i total length tarred 4 miles 22 chains ’ at an average cost of 21 per square ; yard. . North Ward Streets.—The following ! paths have been tarred:—Blair, Rimu, ; Roberts road and The Terrace. Total I length 701 chains.
