LIGHTING MEN’S BATHS.

DEFERRED TILL NEXT YEAR.

In accordance with a resolution of the Masterton Borough Council, a special committee set up to consider the lighting of the men’s baths by electricity, and using them in the evenings for mixed bathing, etc., reported to the Borough Council on Tuesday evening that. i» view*of the demands made upon the finances for the remainder of the year owing to errors in the estimates, they were unable to recommend the additional expenditure involved.

The report continued that if mixed bathing was permitted the accomodation was insufficient, and that the hours of the attendant would have to be extended or an assistant provided for him. The cost of the two arc lights at the baths would be £24 155., and lights would also have to be installed in the dressing rooms. The committee was unable to estimate what the cost of current would be. The report was adopted.
