SURRENDER OF KUT. OFFERS TO THE TURK. (Press Association—Copyright.) (Recd. 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 16. —The latest volume of the Official History of the War discloses that General Townshend, on the authority -of the War Office, offered the Turkish Commander £1,000,000 and also the surrender of his guns if the Kut garrison was allowed freedom on parole. The Turk declined this, and also a later offer of £2,000,000, shortly after which hunger compelled an unconditional surrender.—(A. and N.Z.)
